Our desire as a family has always been to reach even more Japanese for Christ than our current capacity as missionaries allows us. We are ready for the next step in church planting! We believe God is challenging us to call a pastor to the church that began 7 years ago in our home, Denen Grace Chapel. We believe God would have us begin to work in partnership with this man to expand our influence for the kingdom of Christ in Kawasaki, Japan. This strategic move will enable us to devote more time to evangelism and discipleship, and less time to church management and leadership.

But the first few years of supporting a national pastor will stretch our church finances in a big way. Even increasing our church budget significantly in this postwar economic crisis puts this vision beyond our reach from a human perspective. But our faith is in God's supply through his people. Our church people are ready to rise to the challenge of doing all they can to bridge the financial gap for the church. Could you join them in partnership as well? Would you stand with us in this vision?

NEW CHURCH PASTORAL SUPPORT FUND; Kawasaki, Japan

This project is intended to fulfill WorldVenture and the Japan field's objective of establishing reproducing churches. The purpose of this project is to establish a fund from which to subsidize the cost of calling and supporting a national pastor to a new church (Denen Grace Chapel), and, if funds allow, provide seed money for future new church leadership as Denen Grace Chapel reproduces itself.

Denen Grace Chapel will be phasing in full support of a national pastor over a period of three years beginning in January 2010. The intent of this project is to supplement not supplant the commitment of the new church in underwriting the new pastor's salary. It is the intent of Denen Grace Chapel to fully support the new pastor through its tithing within three years, so as not to create ongoing dependence on outside support. The project will be discontinued at the end of three years.

Ministry
FromPastorKondo

1. I believe that the greatest mission given to us humankind is to worship our God. I dream of a community in which people worship our Savior, Jesus Christ with our whole being, intelligence, emotion, and body that the Lord has bestowed upon us. In order to nurture such people who can respond with their whole self to the grace of God, I would like to build upon all of the activities of the church: worship service, evangelism, Bible study and fellowship.

2. Here in Japan, the focus of evangelism is mainly Japanese people living in the area, but I also aim to form a church with an international atmosphere in which people returning from abroad and foreigners living in the region can also be blessed and encouraged. To facilitate this, I intend to carry out bilingual church services as God enables.

3. I believe that the foundation of Christian growth is in studying the Bible. Thus, I find it ideal to hold small-group Bible study groups which would be in an inductive form and will encourage every attendant to come face-to-face with the word of God. By making this small-group Bible study a place for prayers and fellowship, the groups will be a great place for spiritual growth.
